Perseverance

Perseverance.

Luke8:11-15

The seed that falls on the footpath represents those who hear the gospel, but who do not allow it to penetrate their hearts and minds Verse12 The seed that lands on the rocky soil represents those who hear God’s Word and receive it with joy, but over time their commitment is shown to be shallow and superficial Verse13 The seed that lands among the thorns represents those who appear to believe, but who let the cares of this life slowly choke out any growth Verse14 The seed that falls on the fertile soil is the seed that actually takes root to produce spiritual fruit.

What is the difference between this? The key to their sucess can be broken down into three steps: 1 They listen to Gos’s Word 2 they obey God’s Word and 3 they persevere to produce a huge harvest.

By letting God’s Word take root in your heart and life, we will grow stronger and be able to withstand the storms of life.

Toward Self

Happiness comes not from seeking it but from seeking God.

We need to recognize our true condition.
As we humble ourselves before a holy God, we will be blessed.
Matthew 5:3-5
5:3 God blesses thoes who are poor and realize their need for him for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
5:4 God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5:5 God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.

Joy

Knowing and trusting God is the source of inexpressible joy.
The greatest joy we can experience comes only from a personal relatiionship with Jesus Christ..
1Peter 1:8
You love him even through you have never seen him. Through you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy.

Trials

God does not allow us to experience trials because he wants to see us suffer. Rather he allows these difficulties into our lives to help us grow spiritually to learn to live by faith, not by feelings.

Trials Sharpen our faith. Hardships develop our character and purify our faith.

1Peter 1:3-7  All praise to God, the Father of our Lord jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation.
